Indoor Grow Tents FAQ
What are the benefits of indoor growing tents?
Indoor tents a beneficial for growing for many reasons. For instance, they help keep pests and dirt out of the grow space and help you maintain your desired environment. Grow tents also reduce odour and prevent light from leaking throughout your property. And, they can easily be set up or dismantled as and when you need them.
Furthermore, investing in grow tents means you spend far less on equipment as you only need to create an environment for the grow space, rather than the whole room. The fans you use in the tent won’t need to be as powerful either. While you can use fewer lights to heat the room. And the reflective surface on grow tents emits light around the whole space.
All of this will reduce the need for using so much energy and will keep your running costs down.
Key features of indoor grow tents:
- Contained indoor grow tents stop bad odours from leaking into your home
- Grow tents let you create a microenvironment with heaters and fans
- Prevents light leakages when plants need to be in total darkness
- Reflective surfaces redistribute light back into your growing matter
- Includes pre-made holes for ventilation, ducting and equipment feeds
- The strong framework supports carbon filters, extraction and light equipment
What size grow tent do I need?
The size of your grow tent will depend on how many plants you’re growing and how much light and heat you is needed for the plants to thrive. If you’re planning on using powerful lights, then you’ll need a bigger grow tent to accommodate the large growth.
But if you start with a grow tent that’s too large for the plants, you can waste money on unnecessary light and heating. Whereas, if your grow tent is too small, it can easily become overcrowded, resulting in a loss of quality in the plants.
You can use the following as a rule of thumb:
- 0.75m x 0.75m: 250w HPS light
- 1m x 1m: 400w HPS light
- 1.2m x 1.2m: 600w HPS light
- 1.5m x 1.5m: 1000w HPS light
Of course, the best thing to do is give us a call on 0114 3221440 and we can talk you through it.
Are small growing tents worth it?
Small tents are worth your consideration too. Perhaps you’re only growing small plants, or just for propagation. Either way, it’s not always necessary to invest in the largest tent you can find. Many people prefer small tents as they can fit discreetly into cupboards and such, meaning they are out of the way and even more contained.
Can I use grow lights without a tent?
You can use grow lights without a tent. But creating the right environment for your plants is key. If you’re only using one grow light in a large room, you should certainly consider getting an indoor growing tent.
Do indoor grow tents need ventilation?
Indoor grow tents do need to be well ventilated. The best way of doing this is to use both intake and outtake fans in your tent. The intake brings lots of cool, fresh air into the environment, while the outtake removes heat and old air.

Do I need a filter with a grow tent?
Even the smallest of grows can produce unwanted odours, and as a result, most indoor grow tents will benefit from using a filter of some kind. Grow tents can contain a lot of the smells produced, but to eliminate them, you’ll need to enlist the help of a filter.
We recommend using the MountainAir carbon filter or Prima Klima Eco Coco filter.
What are the best grow tents to buy?
Investing in a quality tent will benefit you in the long run. Cheaper tents will do the job, but the best ones will make a big difference to the outcome of the quality and yield of your crops, and how long the tent lasts.
For instance, Trojan Gold tents deliver exceptional quality at a great price. While Secret Jardin tents come with lots of extras that make growing indoors that little bit easier
What are the cheapest indoor grow tents to buy?
If you’re looking for cheap indoor grow tents, we find that Four Two Zero Grow Tents offer fantastic bang for your buck. But if you have a little more change in your pocket, the BudBox tents are world-renowned for their strength and performance.
How many grow tents do I need?
You can get away with using one indoor grow tent without any problems. If you find your plants are overcrowded, then you can install a second tent, or upgrade to a larger size. However, to maximise the number of growth you can achieve in a year, it’s a good idea to have at least a propagation tent too. And if you have the room, a vegetation tent will make your life easier.
This lets you propagate your plants before moving them into the veg room until you harvest your crop. Then, pop the plants from the veg tent straight into your flowering tent and repeat the cycle.
